Tested apps
There are lots of indoor training apps available, and with new ones being released all the time, we can't test them all. The following training apps have been tested for compatibility with the Fliiiight trainer:
- TrainerRoad
- Zwift*
- The Sufferfest
*Zwift on Windows, Mac, and iOS are compatible. Zwift on Android is currently incompatible.
Untested apps
Apps we haven't tested may fall in one of three groups:
- Compatible apps: Apps that follow standard Smart Trainer connection protocols
- Apps created for a specific trainer brand
- Apps without smart trainer control
Compatible apps: Apps that follow standard Smart Trainer connection protocols
To be compatible with Fliiiight, an app must be capable of sending smart trainer commands using one of two standard connection protocols:
- ANT+ FE-C (fitness equipment controlled)
- Bluetooth Smart [BLE] FTMS (fitness machine service)
ANT+ FEC is the standard used by the majority of PC apps, and requires an ANT+ USB dongle.
Standardization for Bluetooth is newer, and some apps have yet to adopt it. Check that the app is compatible with Bluetooth [BLE] FTMS, not just Bluetooth. Apps such as TrainerRoad, Zwift, Sufferfest, Xert and RGT Cycling use Bluetooth [BLE] FTMS.
Apps created for a specific trainer brand
Apps that are created for a specific brand of trainers may not follow the standard Smart Trainer connection protocols. These apps generally aren't capable of controlling trainers from other brands, including the 4iiii Fliiiight, over Bluetooth, but in some cases, they will control other trainers over ANT+ FE-C. Check with the app's help resources.
Incompatible: Apps without smart trainer control
The older generation of cycling apps predate smart trainers. These apps can receive power data from the trainer via Cycling Power (Bluetooth) and PWR (ANT+) but they aren't capable of smart trainer control.
