If your training app suggests a spindown calibration, look for the option to skip this step. Fliiiight does not require a spindown calibration, and will not recognize one.
Why does the spindown calibration not apply to Fliiiight?
Trainers that require regular spindown calibrations have some component which affects the accuracy of that trainer's power measurement, and which can change from day to day, during use, or over time.
Examples:
- On a traditional wheel-on trainer, the rolling resistance of your training tire changes depending on the temperature, tire pressure, and condition of the tread.
- A trainer that requires only occasional calibrations may have a mechanical wear component such as a belt that changes shape slowly over time.
The spindown calibration allows these trainers to adjust for the effects of changes to their power measurement.
Since Fliiiight does not touch your tire or contain contain any wear components that influence the power measurement, it does not share the same tendency to become less accurate over time.
Fliiiight does have have its own type of calibration. See Is there a calibration procedure? to learn more.
