Compatible wheels
Your wheel must have an aluminium alloy rim in order for Fliiiiight to create resistance.
However, both rims and tires can sometimes contain steel components that are attracted to the magnets and make that rim or tire incompatible with the Fliiiight trainer. We always recommend you check for these components yourself by using our online wheel checking tool or following along with the wheel compatibility video.
Note that wheels with steel spokes and steel spoke nipples are fully compatible with Fliiiight trainers.

Steel pins
Some aluminium rims contain a steel pin at the joint, usually opposite the valve stem. Steel pins make the wheel incompatible with the Fliiiiight trainer.
Higher quality rims are more likely to be joined with a weld or sleeve, but there are inexpensive welded rims, and more expensive rims that use a steel pin. Not every wheel manufacturer includes this information in the product description, so we always recommend you check for yourself.

- Look for a compatible alloy rim.
Steel beaded tires
Clincher tires can contain either a Kevlar or steel bead. A steel bead attracts the magnets, and is incompatible. If you have a steel beaded tire, swap out the tire for an affordable folding tire with a Kevlar bead. Folding tires are the most common tire type, and are typically higher quality than a steel beaded tire.
